As part of our ‘Open Morning’ Holden’s have teamed up with their friends at Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb who are hosting their ‘Classic Nostalgia’ event the same weekend. The Midland Automobile Club has kindly agreed to offer our newsletter subscribers a special rate of just £10 per person entry, plus VIP parking when purchasing tickets in-store from Holden.
Holden is based just outside Bromyard, Herefordshire close to the famous Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb and (according to the Daily Telegraph) located on one of the top 10 driving roads in Britain. Classic Nostalgia – Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb (Saturday 18 & Sunday 19 July 2015)
A weekend of 1950’s and 1960’s Classic Nostalgia awaits you at the Midland Automobile Club’s Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb on the 18-19 July 2015. This annual event is rapidly becoming a firm favourite on the racing calendar and always attracts a very a wide variety of competing cars from the pre 1980s, plus spectacular static vehicle displays. The courtyard stage hosts non-stop entertainment throughout the weekend, including vintage-inspired musicians, live bands and show dancers, whilst the paddock and field will be packed with competition cars, rare display ‘invited’ vehicles, trade stands, military vehicles and visiting car clubs. Saturday will also host Triumph Marque Day, with over 500 Triumphs expected, throughout the weekend a huge array of Jaguars will be on display as Shelsley pays homage to the numerous jaguar anniversaries this year. On the Sunday special guest Norman Dewis chief test driver and development engineer for Jaguar Cars from 1952 to 1985 will take part in a question and answer session in the courtyard.
Taking to the skies above will be the iconic Lancaster plane as it takes part in a flypast, courtesy of the Battle of Britain Memorial flight. Also thrilling the crowds will be a 1960s Pitts Special aerobatic display (Sunday weather permitting).
Sunday also features the annual Street Concours for cars built before 1982 (sponsored by Classic & Sports Car magazine). The Concours is open to the first 100 entries through the gate before 12 noon and is judged by motoring journalist and regular Shelsley Walsh competitor, Simon Taylor. The overall winner of the Concours will receive a silver salver and be invited to display the vehicle on the Club’s stand at the NEC Classic Car Show in November.
Holden Vintage & Classic will be judging the Vintage fashion competition. Visitors are encouraged to wear vintage clothing; a Holden gift voucher will be awarded by Holden for the best vintage outfit. Please congregate in the courtyard at 4pm Sunday to take part.
